Product description
Dorland's Wax is a versatile cold wax medium made from pure wax and damar resin. You can use Dorland's Wax as a sealant sealant, varnish and medium.
Dorland's Wax is popular as a protective top coat for sealing and finishing oil paintings to collages, and is especially popular as a varnish for watercolor and gouache paintings. Dorland's Wax provides a durable waterproof finish, adds depth to the color and allows you to hang your work without glass for protection. Leave the wax as it is for a matte effect or buff it with a cloth after drying for a high-gloss effect.
Mix Dorland's Wax with powder pigments such as Pearl Ex to create a firm, super matte, quick-drying medium for 'cold wash dyeing'. This is perfect for creating unique textures, impasto effects and for layering and palette knife techniques. By varying the ratio of medium to dye, you can easily control the transparency or opacity of the color. Add turpentine or solvent to thin the wax or extend the drying time. You can also use Dorland's Wax to finish wooden objects, such as jewelry or furniture, but also on metal, polymer clay, ceramics , drawings, photos and more. Add a small amount of pigment, dye, oil paint or alcohol ink to color the medium, or apply directly for a stylish, wax-finished look.
The wax will not yellow over time and will protect artwork forever.
